Visiting certain churches are done not only for religious purposes, but also for historical reasons. This post is supposed to be made much later, but this is moved forward because some may choose the Pagbilao Church (St.Catherine of Alexandria Parish Church) for the visita iglesia this April (see also Daraga and Nabua).

Being one from Cebu, my friend’s patron next to the Sto. Nino de Cebu is St. Catherine of Alexandria,Patron Saint of Carcar ,his hometown. We just recently found St. Catherine of Alexandria Church in Bagac,Bataan. We know of Porac, Pampanga, Dumuguete,San Vicente in Vigan, Libacao,Aklan. A couple of years back, His Excellency Cardinal Vidal, DD Archbishop of Cebu delivered a homily on St. Catherine of Alexandria’s Churches/Parishes in the Philippines. Wish we were given a copy of that homily.I hope that you can help us in locating some more churches with St. catherine of Alexandria as its titular saint. Thank you very much.
I chance upon your message only today. I happened to see in Living Asia Channel the festival of St Catherine of Alexandria in Pagbilao. I looked for it in the internet and found your message. The Patron saint of my hometown, Arayat, Pampanga, is also St. Catherine of Alexandria. We will have a very simple celebration on August 29, 2015 to commemorate the 425th anniversary of our parish. It was only last month that we learned about the year when our parish was established so we are not able to prepare a grand event. In fact, we have never celebrated any anniversary. Anyway, our love and faith in St Catherine has never diminished. We celebrate her feast day every November 25. My sister is currently the Parish Pastoral Council president.
If you are able to get a copy of Cardinal Vidal’s homily on St. Catherine of Alexandria, could you please send me a copy, too? Thanks a lot.
