It’s not every day that we get to see a waterfall. A lot of us, in fact, haven’t seen a waterfall. Some of us have visited waterfalls that have been neglected, like the Hinulugang Taktak of Antipolo, or fun waterfalls like Pagsanjan Falls, we don’t exactly know what to expect when we encounter each waterfall. Memories have a funny way of affecting the present, we all know, which is why we’ve waited for the rainy season to write about our summer trip to Palawan. Zoocobia Fun Zoo and Paradise Ranch (Sacobia, Clarkfield, Pampanga)
A destination oftentimes presents a welcome surprise, a deviation from the usual image associated with it. Take, for instance, Clarkfield in Pampanga. Foremost that may come to mind is the U.S. airbase, long gone, and the existing economic zone. There’s the Macapagal airport, hub of budget airlines. It’s the venue of the annual hot air balloon festival. It’s hard to think that an educational establishment like the Nayong Pilipino and ecotourism site would be found here. Man-made Forest in Bohol
Poems are made by fools like me, but only God can make a tree. This is the last line of a Joyce Kilmer poem. Here in Bohol, people not only make a tree, they grow an entire man-made forest. Located at the border of the Bilar and Loboc towns in Bohol, the man-made forest is a 2-kilometer stretch of purposely-planted mahogany trees, in the middle of which the road leading to the Chocolate Hills cuts through. A tour in Bohol is not complete without a river cruise up along Loboc River. Clean and scenic, the Loboc river winding through a number of towns in Bohol. The cruise includes buffet lunch so there’s no problem about taking your time. It also includes catching a glimpse of children diving in the sparkling waters of Loboc River. Bangui Wind Mills (Ilocos Norte)
There must be some logical explanation why people love really big things. Now that we’re in the midst of a really hot Philippine summer, perhaps it would be refreshing to be cooled by a huge electric fan. But while the huge structures in Bangui, Ilocos Norte may resemble gigantic electric fans, they are really wind mills meant to generate electricity to power our gadgets, including, well, electric fans.
