Lava, lahar and volcanic boulders flowed down Mayon Volcano on 1 February 1814, its most destructive recorded eruption. The pyroclastic flow unfortunately destroyed the whole town of Cagsawa, situated at the foot of the volcano, including the church and convent. Only the church tower survived to this day. Some 1,200 people perished in Cagsawa during that eruption. Rate (above) and review (below) the Cagsawa Ruins. Also rate and review the Mayon Volcano.
